About us
Welcome to Craftlandia, the heart of creativity in Daylesford.
Located in the picturesque town of Daylesford, we offer writing and crafting events, crafting groups and yarn supplies.
A passion for craft
Craftlandia is a place where people can come together to share their love of crafting, learn new skills, and create beautiful things. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a total beginner, our workshops, talks and groups are designed to inspire, educate, and entertain.
We're dedicated to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for you to explore your creativity, be it crochet, felting, knitting, writing, spinning or anything else you can dream up.
It’s all about having fun and making something in the company of an inspiring community of creators.
Who are we?
Craftlandia was started by the creative locals Philippa Burne and Samantha Menzies in March 2024.
In September 2024, Samantha left Craftlandia for family reasons, and Bali Portman joined Philippa to take Craftlandia into the future.
Philippa has written TV in Australia, Europe and the US after publishing her first novel, Fishnets. For the last ten years, she has taught screenwriting at the Victorian College of the Arts. Her passion for crafting comes from a childhood spent learning from her mother and grandmother: sewing, spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing with seaweed and leaves.
Bali is a highly experienced crocheter and crafter, who runs Teatime Yarn Retreats. She was a pioneer of Yarn Bombing in Australia and brings passion, energy and ideas galore to Craftlandia. If you’ve got a question to do with yarn, Bali can answer it.
If the first six months of Craftlandia have taught us anything it’s that Daylesford needs a Craftlandia. In order to ensure its ongoing success and continued growth, we’re stepping into Craftlandia 2.0 - new ideas, new energy, same passion for crafting.
